Genesis City Grant from Qwest February 2010 Jim Campbell, Qwest Arizona President, and Cruz Flores, Qwest Multi-Cultural Marketing, presented Karen Callahan, Executive Director of Genesis, with a grant of $5,000 from the Qwest Foundation on February 24th.

These funds will be used to fund an innovative Applied Math and Science Project. This project will teach students how to apply mathematics to research and classroom science experiments.Students will learn how to systematically research and investigate real-world information and then attempt to scientifically replicate this real-world data in laboratory experiments. Emphasis will be placed on numerical relationships, independent and dependent variables, and correlations of outcomes.

Bill Smillie, Instructional Specialist at Genesis, was elated at the news, saying, "This grant allows us to teach the students how real world conditions can be replicated in the science lab for a greater understanding of the forces of nature and the world around them."

Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA Shoe Donation Genesis City, received 100 pairs of new Converse shoes from the Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA on January 22, 2010. The shoes will be given to the disenfranchised youth that receive services at Genesis City.
